The Gold Coast’s Radisson Resort at Palm Meadows has snapped up one of the major honours at this month’s Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards.
The Raddisson Resort was announced as the winner of the award at a special ceremony held at the Gold Coast office of national accountancy chain KPMG this week.
At a time when many accommodation houses are struggling, the 280-room resort, which is spread over nine wings, was named the winner of the Tourism, Hospitality and Events category in the monthly awards. Award wins are becoming a regular occurrence for the 14-year-old resort, which earlier this year won two state awards from Media Events Australia.
Another Gold Coast business that is no stranger to winning awards, Lucy Cole Prestige Properties, was named as the winner of the Trades Professions and Services honour.
Lucy Cole Prestige Properties opened its doors in January 2000 as a small one person office on Isle of Capri and now has more than 20 employees, operates from two offices & is on track to sell more than $170 million of property this year.
Founder and principle Lucy Cole, who also services as president of the Surfers Paradise-Broadbeach Chamber of Commerce, said it was an honour to win the award.
“The team at Lucy Cole Prestige Properties always strives to continually improve our service offerings so it is always refreshing to receive recognition from our peers in the business word,’’ said Ms Cole.
“My team are very proud about winning this award.”
Another serial award winner, Technigro has been named the Gold Coast’s family business for the month of June.
Set up by Nick Bloor in 1987, the company has grown from a one-man business to a multimillion-dollar business servicing government and commercial customers between Northern NSW and the Sunshine Coast.
Technigro now employs more than 125 people including four members who hold executive roles. Technigro has sustained an average growth of 20% per annum for the past 10 years.
Growing national café operator Coolabah Tree Cafes won the Retail, Wholesale & Distribution award for June. Coolabah now operates 11 company-owned cafes and five franchises outlets across four states.
The company has found a strong niche in supplying a good, healthy carvery-based food services to busy travel centres and services stations.
Another emerging franchisor Bloomtools, claimed the honours in the Information Technology and Multimedia section. The Varsity Lakes headquartered company started life as a boutique software development house in 2004. However, after seven years in business, it is now an international company with resellers, franchisees and clients across Australia, New Zealand and the UK.
Amongst the other winners, print services company Smartprint Fleet Management has won the Environmental Management Award, technology-development company Bantix Worldwide claimed the Mayor’s Innovation award, P&M Plastics & Rubber took out the Manufacturing and Construction section and Signal Advantage won the Emerging Business title.
All the monthly winners from 2011 will eligible for the annual awards which will be presented at the Black Tie Gala Presentation in November.
