Hendersons celebrate REIQ award win

THE team from John Henderson Professionals Mermaid Beach is celebrating after winning a major state award.

The business, which next month will celebrate its 40th years in serving the real estate needs of Mermaid and Miami residents, was named as the winner of the Community Service Award at the Real Estate Institute of Queensland’s Excellence Awards.

The agency beat every other real estate agency in Queensland to claim the award.

It is now in the running for a national title, which is set to be announced in Canberra in March.

Principal Andrew Henderson said it was an honour for the business to receive the award and it was recognition for the hours of work his team had contributed to the community.

“We don’t do our community activities to win awards but it is still amazing to receive industry recognition for what you have achieved,’’ said Mr Henderson.

“We strongly believe in giving back to the community as a way of thanking residents for the support they have given us during the past 39 years and as an investment into our future.

“We think businesses can do more to help the communities they serve and help everyone to get ahead a little bit more.

“John Henderson Professionals Mermaid Beach is the major sponsor of ALL three of the surf clubs in our area and we are the major sponsor of two Neighbourhood Watch groups.”

Mr Henderson said the team was also very active in running community campaigns, such as organising a petition to Gold Coast City Council to allow five storey, mixed used developments along the Gold Coast Highway.

“We are passionate about buying locally and supporting local businesses in the same way we hope the local community will continue to support us,’’ he said.
.
“We also know that keeping existing customers happy will always be cheaper and more effective than trying to attract new customers.

“Happy customers become loyal customers over time and loyal customers provide you with the best word of mouth referrals you could wish for.”

Mr Henderson said a major advantage the business had over its rivals was the long-term focus of the family.

“Our business has been on the Coast for 40 years next month and we are committed to the long-term success of our operation,’’ he said.

“Our focus is on obtaining long-term customer satisfaction rather than short-term result.  As a result, we have long-standing relationships with our customers and they return to us over and over again.”
