Technology opens doors for business

A QUEENSLAND company is using world-leading temperature monitoring technology to allow businesses to reopen faster following the COVID-19 health and economic crisis.

Gold Coast headquartered TempSafe has combined Belgium temperature technology with Australian software to build artificial-intelligence-powered thermographic imaging devices which can monitor the temperature of up to 45 people at a time.

TempSafe general manager Stuart Norris, who is a former winner of the New Zealand exporter of the year award, says the company has already sold more than $500,000 worth of the devices in its first month in operation as Australian businesses look for faster ways to reopen.

Mr Norris said the TempSafe products had potential benefits for businesses in the education, entertainment, hospitality, health, retail, and transport sectors.

He said it allowed business to avoid invasive, close-contact temperature testing and the associated queues while still ensuring a safe, comfortable environment for guests and employees.

"Social distancing is here to stay and we think the new normal will be businesses, schools or workplaces taking the temperature of employees and guests before entry to prevent the spread of COVID-19,'' said Mr Norris.

"We have developed state-of-the-art technology that can monitor individuals or groups of people to check for anybody showing signs of elevated temperature.

"Our Ai-TIC products enables the testing of multiple guests at once, in the blink of an eye.

"Facial recognition software, thermographic technology and Artificial Intelligence enable the system constantly check crowds and to check itself to ensure that that it is calibrated correctly."

Mr Norris said the technology was designed to be an early warning indicator that would help to identify people with general symptoms, so that they could be further tested by medical experts.

"Importantly, it allows businesses to reopen their doors more quickly and efficiently in conjunction with a COVD-19 SafePlan in place," he said.

"This affects all business no matter how large or how small they are."
